Cool Stuff Separation of fats through solidification livescience — April 6, 2019 33 comments Separation of fats through solidification chem gifs reaction
I have many questions, starting with, is this a practice form a specific restaurant or a regional practice ? What happens to the fat, is that then eaten ? Reply
I do not understand why fat would be attracted to ice this way. Could someone please explain it like im’a freshmen? Reply
It does look like it’s at the end of the meal, could it just be for some kind demonstration? The idea I just had, perhaps it’s saved for another purpose, like when I save the duck fat to make roast potatoes. But then what’s the purpose of having it still boiling? Reply
This is going to be so much easier than trying to suck up the oil with a paper towel, lol!! I learned a new cooking trick, yay!! Reply
I dont think this is actually a chemical reaction. No compounds are converted to new compounds. Just a phase change. Reply
I was really looking forward to seeing a fart separated into its component gases by solidification. This is still good, but someone should get on that other thing Reply
Wished it was longer
Freaking Elsa over here handling that bowl bare back

Definitely read it as separation of farts.
But fats is what makes the taste….
I see, removal of *flavor* through solidification 🙁
What thing do they use to do that?
Isn’t that just a physical change, not a chemical change/reaction?
Why are they taking the flavour out!?
This is dope.
Damn, that’s ingenious!
Thought that said farts.

But I want the fat.
*no it’s absorbing the oil*

Isn’t it absorbing the fat?

I love hot pot!
Give credit to the original post. Don’t be a jerk OP
I thought it solidified the cooking oil. It’s just the fat huh
